Hi my blog buddies,
Here comes my 3rd part of my HUE trip "dead" report (coz I come back to HCMC for nearly one month so it's no more "LIVE").For the 3rd day in Hue,as planned, I took a boat trip on HUONG river with a hope that it would be no more rain . I walked up quite soon and was at the riverbank at 8h after having BUN BO HUE at the street nearby.
From what I read on the leaflet, the trip is abt 5 hours which goes through a fishing village, Thiem Mu pagoda, Hon Chen Temple, Tu Duc, Khai Dinh and Minh Mang Tomb , well, it's quite interesting with such a so cheap price of 40.000VND.But, in fact, it's neither that cheap nor that interesting. At each tomb we visited, we had to pay for our own entrance ticket which is 30.000/one ticket (ac ac),even at hon Chen Temple where there's nothing to enjoy --> it took us 15.000VND , furthermore, to get reach to each Tu Duc and Khai Dinh Tomb we had to rent a motobike "OM" for 20.000 per each time, so it's roughly >200.000VND for this "marvelous" tour. That's why there are some of us deciding not to visit some of the tourism points to save money (but to me,with PLAYFUL spirit, I dare not leave any places out of my walking journey, hehe)
--> Here is what the tour guide called the fishing village and we just needed 5 minutes to visit this palce with no stop coz...nothing to see...
then it took us 30m to go to THIEN MU Pagoda on PERFUME RIVER, well, not like the name it got, the smell from Huong River is not that sweet, vice versa, it smells badly, but what I enjoyed travelling on this river is its peaceful atmosphere and lovely view on both river sides, esp. the colorof water keeps changing from blue at the down part (thks to a special kind of water-plant here) to the brown of alluvial soil. On this river, there are few people worikng as fishermen but " sandmen" instead coz during my trip, I saw at least 7 or 8 boats pulled up sands from the river bottom illegally of course and this may cause worse and worse flood year after year to this lovely small city.
Above are some other pics in THIEN MU pagoda wiht a cool sepia pix of me standign next to... something "unknown"
This car was driven by THIEN SU THICH QUANG DUC in the time of monk demonstration against French colony during Vietnam war; after that he burnt himself at CMT8 - NgDinhChieu street corner and now theree's a monumewnt to dedicate him at that very place.
cute monks --> i wonder how they can study when there's thousands of visitors coming to Thiem Mu everyday to take pixs of them
